Educational Technology and Literacy

The Educational Technology and Literacy Department at Towson University is accepting applications for a full-time Administrative Assistant II to provide administrative support to the chair, faculty and students and oversee the administrative functions within the department.

Responsibilities: Create documents, correspondence, forms and reports for departmental use; prepare appointment request for faculty hires; prepare contracts for adjunct faculty and off load contracts for full time faculty; maintain confidential files for faculty, staff and students; receive and screen telephone calls and visitors; provide direction and assistance to students, parents, speakers and guest; assist with coordinating course schedules and submit schedules for on and off campus Towson Learning Network courses; review state and self-supported budgets; process faculty miscellaneous expense vouchers and travel authorization and expense vouchers; coordinate with technology staff regarding labs, classrooms and student employees; monitor and order office supplies and instructional materials; and other duties as assigned.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience providing administrative support is required. The selected candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to proofread and edit a variety of documents; skills in various computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner; and the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instruction. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.

Salary: $31,894 annually with full University benefits including annual leave, up to 14 holidays, personal and sick days; tuition remission; and excellent health, life, and retirement plans. Applicants with TU or USM service may receive salary credit. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
