Operations Manager- Financial Aid
Position Summary: The Operations Manager of the Financial Aid & Scholarships office reports to the Associate Director. The office consists of approximately 22 staff. The Manager directly supervises a team of 7 while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the entire office. Further, this position is charged with adhering to all state, federal, and local guidelines and maintaining focus on quality and convenience to the students. This position also interprets and enforces institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations.
Principle Accountabilities: Supervises approximately 7 technical staff including training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving issues. Performs monthly and year-end reconciliation of the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan programs with Sinclair's Accounting Services office, the Department of Education's Common Origination and Disbursement system and the Ellucian Colleague system to bring accounts to a zero balance. Responsible for the administrative oversight the Federal Direct Loan program (approximately $40 million dollars). This includes general oversight of all Direct Loan mailings and entrance/exit interview processes, providing training on Direct Lending to new employees and presenting general updates to staff as it pertains to the Direct Loan program. Monitor Campus Based Fund balances (Federal Work Study and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant) to ensure proper awarding and utilization of the funds. Supervises student awarding and processing functions including the verification of student information and the determination of student eligibility. This includes coordinating the review of the IART report. Coordinates with the Financial Aid Compliance Administrator to ensure that business policies, processes and procedures fully comply with Federal regulations. Assist with the annual completion of the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) with the Director. Work with the Business Analyst to provide oversight of the Document Management Solution, when implemented (Jan. 2015) Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements: * Minimum of Bachelor's level degree required; Master's degree preferred. Preference for fields: computer science, accounting, information systems, mathematics * Minimum of 5 years work experience in Financial Aid; preference given toward compliance activities, system and process development * Current working knowledge of federal, state and institutional aid programs * Professional oral and written communication skills required * Previous work experience to include system and process development, development of training procedures * Previous work experience to include supervisory responsibilities preferred
