Position Focus: Reporting to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), the position is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of teaching assessment programs for the Medical School and for the oversight of the Standardized Patient (SP) Program. Working with the Director and faculty in the TLC as well as with chairs and faculty in departments, the incumbent will determine needs and develop the systems and processes for managing and reporting the assessment data. With regard to the Standardized Patient Program, the incumbent will manage the scheduling, hiring and payment of standardized patient actors, maintain a central calendar of patient simulations, oversee actor assignments, facilitate training of actors and faculty and manage a database of relevant information.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Designs and contributes to the implementation of faculty and student assessment programs intended to improve the quality and effectiveness of students' education. Prepares and submits recommendations to TLC Director on best approaches.
2. Key contributor in the long-range planning discussions and decisions that have programmatic impact. Recommends and contributes to the development of policies.
3. Develops systems for managing and collecting data regarding faculty and student assessments. Leads projects to continuously improve the use of technology. Collaborates on the development of innovative assessment techniques.
4. Identifies metrics and works with clients to design methodologies for communicating achievement of goals.
5. Manages collection of assessment data from disparate sources. Tracks performance progress, problems and improvements. Provides feedback, advice and counseling to department chairs regarding the assessment tools and reporting capabilities.
6. Develops and analyzes statistical data to determine patterns and trends that impact and inform the direction of faculty and student assessment.
7. Writes publications to disseminate to educational leaders of developments within the assessment arena.
8. Writes, organizes and conducts presentations for target audiences (faculty, chairs, students) to communicate value and capabilities of the programs.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and five years of experience in faculty and student assessment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1: High level of self-direction and motivation. Ability to meet deadlines and work independently. Motivation to develop self to obtain advanced skills in areas of responsibility.

Required Skill/Ability 2: Demonstrated strength in attention to detail and ability to manage complex schedules. Highly developed organizational skills.

Required Skill/Ability 3: Demonstrated ability to collect, organize and manage complex databases. Ability to conduct basic statistical analysis and to learn and conduct textual analysis of assessment data. Proficiency with data base management, statistical and textual data analysis for reporting.

Required Skill/Ability 4: Proven strong communications skills including the ability to synthesize data into a written report.

Required Skill/Ability 5: Demonstrated advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), SPSS statistical software, internet and general electronic communications.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Exposure to textual analytic software preferred. PhD in a related field as well as demonstrated proficiency with data base management, statistical and textual data analysis for reporting.
