The MBA Career Center at the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine has a great opportunity for an experienced career coaching professional who has the passion and vision to take our career service programs for working professionals to the next level. This opportunity involves coaching MBA students, developing and managing existing training activities, supervising experienced career coaches and nurturing relationships with alumni and corporate professionals. We are looking for someone who is interested in joining a team of experienced professionals who are building something truly unique. The Merage School is part of the prestigious University of California system, located in beautiful Irvine California just steps from Newport Beach and in the center of the Tech Coast. The School has seen tremendous growth in recent years and is one of the youngest MBA programs consistently ranked in the top 50 by all major publications. The school provides a collaborative working environment and is known for its supportive and close working relationships with students. Here are the details for this opportunity: The Senior Associate Director is a senior level, supervisory position within the MBA Career Center and oversees the development and delivery of comprehensive career services that assist the 450+ working professional MBA students in attaining their professional career goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Associate Director will: Develop and deliver through in-class and/or webinar formats, MBA career management and job search strategy workshops and seminars Meet with students individually to assess and affect their readiness to manage their career advancement process; provide ongoing coaching individually and in groups Supervise a team of professionals in the delivery of MBA career services; ensure the consistency, quality, and professional level of services offered by the advising team Identify and engage external experts to speak on specific career related topics to supplement workshops delivered internally; develop and host industry/function-specific seminars, guest speaker events, and mentoring activities. Maintain updated records of students’ career advancement activities and eventual employment changes; oversee the collection and reporting of employment outcomes. Manage relationships with program managers, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry professionals Represent the Merage School and the MBA Career Center at seminars, conferences, professional networking events and external meetings The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Extensive experience in developing and delivering career services for early and midcareer MBA populations. Extensive experience working with an MBA population in a career, recruitment or corporate setting. Extensive knowledge of the entry and mid-career MBA employment market, career paths and corporate hiring practices. Demonstrated supervisory experience to direct and motivate staff to perform effectively, communicate expectations and delegate work based on individual responsibilities in line with the needs of the department Strong platform communications experience required; experience in oral presentations to large and medium sized groups required Strong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, prospective students, corporate professionals, faculty, staff, and professionals from other institutions and associations. Ability to think strategically, develop and execute operational plans and manage multiple projects and priorities Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads. Analytical and written skills sufficient to research and write statistical reports and other publications required. Working knowledge of career assessment tools Working knowledge of technology and database programs, understanding of social media, ability to effectively use MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. Prior relationship management and experience in a professional services environment is highly preferred Bachelor’s degree and 10 plus years of related industry experience required. An MBA or Master’s degree in a related field highly preferred.
