The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University Health Network (UHN) and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking a Leader for the newly established MacFeeters Hamilton Centre for Neuro-Oncology Research, at the rank of Associate/ Full Professor. The anticipated start date is June 2, 2014, or as mutually agreed upon.
The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, located in Toronto, Ontario, is the largest cancer research centre in Canada and one of the largest in North America with approximately 18,000 patient visits/year, 12,000 of whom have new cancers, including a large number of brain tumor patients. Over 20% of our patients participate in clinical trials, and we maintain a large institutional Biobank, providing rich resources for patient-oriented research. Our clinical and research programs are outstanding and tightly integrated. With over 2,000 Scientists and Clinician-Scientists on staff, we pursue a broad spectrum of applied and fundamental cancer research, with a strong focus on stem cell biology, signal transduction, immunology/immune therapy, radiation biology and medical imaging. Substantial programs in Personalized Genomic Medicine and Epigenetics also are under development.
We are seeking a candidate with an outstanding track record in the area of basic brain tumor biology and therapeutics, who will be expected to build and lead a world-class research program. Full salary and a substantial startup package are available to support the successful applicant. The current base salary is $200,000 per annum. Candidates must have an MD, MD-PhD, or PhD degree(s) and be eligible for an appointment at the Senior Scientist level at the Ontario Cancer Institute and an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Associate/Full Professor.
