Duties: Provide legal support, advice and education to the Penn-Novartis Alliance associated faculty and staff related to transactional matters, intellectual property management and licensing, contracts, corporate and contract services and manufacturing agreements with an emphasis on contract and patent license agreement drafting and review, governmental, foundation and corporate sponsored, material transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements and collaborative research agreements and faculty consulting agreements. The incumbent will support the drafting, negotiation and enforcement of Novartis Alliance related agreements managed and implemented by the University of Pennsylvania Center for Technology Transfer (CTT). The attorney will support the active management and licensing of patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios that fall under the Penn-Novartis Alliance and are managed through CTT. The position is contingent upon Penn-Novartis funding.

Qualifications: A J.D. is required with at least 1 to 2 years of experience in contract drafting and review at a law firm or equivalent combination of education and experience; Background in a life science discipline is preferred; Bar admission in PA is strongly preferred; Demonstrated track record in drafting, reviewing and negotiating intellectual property license agreements and other related agreements (sponsored research, MTAs, CDAs, collaboration agreements, service agreements) is strongly preferred; Experience in contract drafting and associated document review related to academic technology transfer preferred; Ability to manage a large, diverse set of tasks and projects under tight deadlines; Excellent time management and prioritization skills; Excellent verbal & written communication skills; An independent self-starter with strong work ethic; A team player; High level of attention to detail in work products.
