California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State L.A.), a distinguished urban public university, seeks an innovative leader to serve as Senior Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (Senior AVPEM). Reporting to President William A. Covino, the Senior AVPEM will be tasked with building a top-tier, student-centered enrollment management enterprise charged with enhancing University visibility, strategic expansion and student success.
One of 23 campuses of the California State University system, Cal State L.A. was founded in 1947 and has been fully accredited by WASC since 1954. The campus is located at the eastern edge of Los Angeles and adjacent to the western San Gabriel Valley and serves more than 23,000 students. With over 65% of first generation and ethnic minority students, Cal State L.A. serves one of the most ethnically, linguistically, and socio-economically diverse populations in the nation. A comprehensive institution, it offers a broad range of liberal and professional programs designed to encourage student excellence, achievement and well-being. Students can choose from among 59 undergraduate degree programs, 54 master’s degrees and three doctoral degrees in six colleges. The Senior AVPEM will be part of this university transformation at the ground level and will work closely with academic and non-academic colleagues alike to achieve institutional goals. As the primary enrollment expert on campus, s/he will be expected to craft a vision for an innovative, strategic enrollment management function; foster genuine partnerships with all the divisions of the University, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Administration and Finance, Information Technology Services and University Advancement; build a more cohesive and unified enrollment organization; and provide local, regional and national leadership in the enrollment management field.
The position requires a leader with strategic vision, exceptional organizational building skills, change management expertise, and a grounding in state-of-the-art approaches to enrollment management and analytics. A minimum of 7 years of senior-level experience in enrollment management or related experience is required, and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
