The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Financial Aid and serves as an integral senior member of the Office of Financial Aid (OFA). The Assistant Director provides management skills to help coordinate a financial aid program administering over $35 million annually in federal, state, and institutional funds. The Assistant Director performs the day-to-day activities of a professional financial aid administrator and supervises student employees. He or she provides high levels of customer service to students and families who are seeking means to finance their NDNU education. Broadly, the Assistant Director must maintain knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures. Specifically, the Assistant Director oversees the Direct Loan (DL), Alternative Loan, and Perkins programs and manages the computation of R2T4 (Return of Title IV) funds. As such, the incumbent supports and works with the Director in various capacities of financial aid administration, and oversees the OFA in the absence of the Director. Specific Responsibilities/Duties: • Assists the Director in all aspects of administration of financial aid for NDNU and operations of the office. Partners with other enrollment and student service offices for smooth and seamless student experience. • Develops financial aid customer service protocols leading to continued improvement with serving students and families. • Reviews financial aid applications; determines financial aid eligibility; awards aid and counsels students and parents on financial aid policies, procedures, programs, and related issues. Provides high levels of customer service to students, prospective students, and families. • Oversees the transmittal and reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional funds. • Manages Direct Loan (DL), Alternative Loan and Perkins’ funds. • Manages withdrawals, including computation of R2T4 (Return of Title IV) funds. • Oversees the calculation and implementation of SAP policy and Professional Judgment (PJ). • Oversees the download and upload of ISIR’s: verifies selected ISIR’s, resolves rejected submissions as required. • Supervises OFA student employees. • Assists in the maintenance of office policies and procedures, and supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program. • Performs other duties as needed to ensure the overall efficient operation of OFA. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree required • Experience in Microsoft Office, database management software, creative problem solving required • Experience in PowerFAIDS softward preferred • 2-3 years background in financial aid administration preferred • Must be able to adapt to changing work situations and responsibilities, and adapt to changing federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations and policies. • Sensitivity to family’s financial needs and experience working with a diverse population.
