Reporting to the Provost & Vice President Academic, the Dean of Trades and Technology will provide leadership to all aspects of the Faculty including strategic planning, academic development, and the management of the Faculty’s financial, administrative and human resources. The Dean will be a champion for the Faculty of Trades and Technology within the Kwantlen community and build strong relationships with government, industry and the broader community to ensure a flourishing and sustainable future for this unique and valuable training entity. We seek an exceptional individual with an exemplary record as an educator and administrator within a well regarded post-secondary environment. As an accomplished academic you will have a breadth of experience that has led to a well-informed appreciation of the diversity and educational principles of disciplines in trades and technology. Alternatively you may have a combination of post secondary and significant industry leadership experience. With a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative leadership style you will work in conjunction with other administrators, faculty and staff to achieve the goals of the Faculty of Trades and Technology. You will demonstrate a significant understanding of budget management and principles and strong organizational skills applicable to operational and logistical tasks. The successful candidate will possess a strong track record in the recruitment, engagement and retention of students and demonstrate an appreciation for students and for the role of a student focused institution. The successful candidate must have a fundamental understanding of the B.C. Education System, Industry Training Authority (ITA) and how to enhance skills training, technologies and apprenticeships and have demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment. Through exemplary communication and interpersonal skills you will have a proven record of developing positive and collaborative working relationships and have the ability to provide leadership and direction to build capacity in the Faculty. A trade’s qualification with IP/Red Seal and/or a terminal credential preferably in a technology related field is considered an asset.
