REPORTS TO: Associate Vice President of Communications

LOCATION: Brokaw Hall

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:                                                                                                              

Develop creative designs for university print and online communications consistent with Lawrence’s identity standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, design and supervise production of a variety of university graphic needs including, but not limited to:
    1. “Lawrence” magazine – print and online
    2. University collateral, direct mail, email and outdoor
    3. Online advertising
  2. Coordination with in-house print shop and external print vendors.
  3. Consult with and develop strong relationships with all university departments.
  4. Provide creative and strategic support for the Lawrence Reputation Enhancement Plan.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Maintain effective, collaborative relationships with the entire communications team.
  2. Develop particularly strong, collaborative relationships with other staff designers, the university editor and the Web Content/New Media Director.
  3. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with “customers” throughout the university.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. In-depth knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in Adobe InDesign CS6, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as Microsoft Office required.
  2. Must be competent in all aspects of pre-press.
  3. 3+ years professional experience required.
  4. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  5. Working knowledge of social media channels required.
  6. Familiarity with the following desired but not essential.
    1. Adobe Digital Publishing Suite,
    2. Premiere Pro
    3. After Effects
    4. Encore
    5. Drupal
    6. Wordpress and
    7. WorkZone project management system
  7. Digital photography skills preferred.
  8. Detail and deadline oriented. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  9. An avid learner, willing to keep pace with rapidly evolving digital and web-based technology.

Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check (as applicable), and reference checks.
