This is a grant funded half-time position through March 25, 2015; funding for the position beyond this date is not secure at this time and is dependent upon future grant awards. Major Duties • Make visits to existing Post Secondary Inclusion Programs. • Research and develop essential components of the Post-Secondary Inclusion Program. • Coordinate with grant funder, Georgia Inclusive Post-Secondary Education Consortium, and consultants to attain the program goals and objectives. • Organize various elements of the Post-Secondary program in cooperation with Academic Affairs, Stakeholder groups, members of the external community, and the Faculty and Staff Committee. • Inform EGSC faculty, staff, program students, parents, and members of the external community of the Post-Secondary Inclusion Program’s goals and objectives and form collaborations essential to the fulfillment of the goals and objectives. • Build and manage the admissions of students for Spring 2015. • Attract, orient, and manage other program staff. • Advise a cohort of enrolled students based on their person-centered plans. • Teach Employability course for the Post-Secondary program. • Attend required state and national meetings, trainings, and conference calls. • Prepare grant proposals for continued funding of program. • Performs related duties. Knowledge Required by the Position • Experience in inclusive programs for students with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. • Knowledge of student disability documentation standards and disability services. • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. • Excellent communication and managerial skills • Skill in the supervision of personnel. • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. • Skill in oral and written communication. • Demonstrated ability to grow a quality program • Commitment to the education and development of students with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Supervisory Controls The Vice President of Student Affairs assigns work in terms of departmental goals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of departmental activities. Guidelines Guidelines include relevant federal and state statutes, ADAA guidelines, and college policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. This position develops departmental guidelines. Complexity/Scope of Work • The work consists of varied management and professional program development and coordination duties. The variety of tasks to be performed contributes to the complexity of the position. • The purpose of this position is to direct the college’s Bobcat Post-Secondary Inclusion program functions. Success in this position contributes to the academic and career success of EGSC students. Contacts • Contacts are typically with the grant-related individuals (grant funder, consortium, consultants, IHE grant recipients, etc.) co-workers, other college personnel, students, and members of the external community. • Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to motivate or influence persons. Physical Demands • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. • The work is typically performed in an office. Supervisory and Management Responsibility This position has direct supervision over a Student Intern (1), Student Mentors (2), and a Student Worker (1). Minimum Qualifications Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field and at least eight to ten years of experience in working with students with disabilities in transition. • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the Counseling and Disabilities Services office in order to direct and coordinate work related to this program within the department and across all relevant departments and divisions at the college to attain the program objectives, usually interpreted to require eight to ten years of related experience. • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
