Bethel College, in North Newton, Kansas, is seeking a purpose-driven professional for the position of Vice President for Admissions. THE COLLEGE: Bethel College is a four-year, private, primarily residential, liberal arts college located in North Newton, Kansas. It is the oldest Mennonite college in North America, founded in 1887 for the advancement of postsecondary education in a Christian community. It is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA. Bethel is a self-governing, independent legal corporation with close ties to its constituent churches and communities and was initially accredited in 1938 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. THE VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President for Admissions, reporting to the president, is a senior administrative officer and is an engaged member of the president’s cabinet. She or he will have specific responsibilities for leading and managing student recruitment in a way fully integrated with student life, academic program, business affairs, athletics, communications, and advancement. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • An undergraduate degree is required, with an advanced degree strongly preferred. • Knowledge of best practices in admissions and recruiting. • Demonstrated record of success in recruitment, admissions and other enrollment activities. • At least 5 years of management experience. • Demonstrated ability to set goals, monitor performance, and hold the team accountable for results. • Proven ability to motivate, influence and manage a diverse array of dedicated professionals, while emphasizing a high level of quality in all deliverables. • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence both internal and external. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: • Visionary leadership that generates credibility and support from a wide range of constituencies including staff, Board members and the senior team, as well as external stakeholders. • Established, broad-based business acumen in the following areas: recruitment, enrollment, marketing, promotions, and financial and budget management. • Flexible, adaptable and innovative with an ability to envision strategic opportunities in a complex and dynamic environment. • Confident while still very open to constructive suggestions (i.e., servant leadership). • Exemplary communication skills (written, verbal, listening) with demonstrated presentation abilities. • Dynamic, decisive, firm but fair manager who is noted for inclusiveness, consensus building, collaboration, facilitation and follow through. • Enthusiastic self-starter with a high level of energy, a results-oriented personality, and the poise and maturity appropriate for a senior level administrator.
