Chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the College of Business Administration at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. The expected start date is Fall 2014. The Chair will work with the Dean, the Associate Dean, the other Department Chairs, and Department faculty to advance the quality, productivity, and national reputation of the Department and College. In addition, the Chair will represent the Department to stakeholders inside and outside the University to enhance and expand the Department’s academic programs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have an earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited university and provide evidence of achievement in the areas of research and teaching commensurate with tenured appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor. ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An understanding of the AACSB accreditation process and requirements, professional certification, and prior administrative experience are highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate an understanding of curricular and course design at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the candidate should possess a strategic view of higher education, which recognizes the potential synergies between the Department and College, especially within the context of UTEP’s mission and strategic plan. THE DEPARTMENT AND COLLEGE: The Department of Accounting and Information Systems is part of the College of Business Administration, both of which are AACSB accredited. The Department has undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. It also contributes significantly to the College’s three MBA programs.
