Job Description:
Provide overall leadership, strategic direction and management of the law school’s Career & Professional Development Office. As a member of the dean’s management team, contribute to the school’s overall strategic planning process, participate in problem-solving and decision-making, and provide input on student recruiting, effective use of law school resources and marketing. As a senior advisor, inform the dean on employment related issues and focus his efforts to engage potential employers. Direct and manage collection of data and reporting and statistical analytics for internal and external audiences. Accuracy and completion of data reporting is a key element in the US New Rankings and student recruiting efforts.

Represent law school to external constituencies including local, regional and national legal communities, prospective students, potential employers, alumni and the public and develop outreach strategies to employers to enhance opportunities for students and graduates. Design, manage and run comprehensive recruiting programs and employer outreach events on and off campus and dynamic programs for students, alumni, faculty, employers and the legal community. Design and implement advising strategies for JD and LL.M students and graduates throughout the job search process, including mentorship connections. Hire, manage and supervise administrators and staff members to assist with above projects and programs and manage $700K budget. Receives minimal supervision. Reports to the Dean of the Law School. Oversee and manage daily function of Career & Professional Development office including supervising 5 administrators and 2 support staff, and student worker and temporary staff as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor and JD degrees required.
• At least five years of work experience in the legal profession, education administration, student services, or a related field.
• At least one year of advising experience in a student-oriented (customer-service) setting.
• Strong understanding of career development issues affecting law students, lawyers, and the legal profession; ability to develop related programs and materials.
• Knowledge of legal career employment opportunities and local, regional and national job markets.
• Demonstrated ability to address issues raised by a large, diverse student body, along with the ability to successfully interact with various populations including students, faculty, administrators, employers and colleagues at other institutions.
• Ability to develop marketing strategies to enhance employment opportunities.
• Ability to collect, report and analyze relevant statistical data and to identify and analyze trends in the legal profession.
• Significant management and supervisory experience.
• Administrative, managerial, budgetary and supervisory skills and experience.
• Skill in use of computer software and web-based legal employer and job search programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Superior grammar and editing skills and attention to detail.
