Box 9020; Tyler, Texas 75711 JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time professional position responsible to the professor, physics/director, Center for Earth and Space Science Education for the following: 1. Assisting the director in daily operations of the CESSE. 2. Creating educational programming utilizing the CESSE’s state of the art 40ft domed theater and Digistar 5 fulldome system. 3. Developing grant proposals. 4. Working closely with school curriculum coordinators. 5. Acquiring of data for assessment and research. 6. Supervising of support staff. 7. Performing other duties as assigned by professor, physics/director. 8. Managing all aspects of kiosk/gift cart sales, inventory and tracking. 9. Keeping all media, materials, and hardware up to date and backed up. 10. Assisting in promoting the CESSE through social media and events. 11. Aiding the selection and creation of exhibits and shows. 12. Performing other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree required in science, science education, or related filed; master’s preferred. 2. Experience working in a digital planetarium required. 3. Sufficient knowledge of astronomy to create educational programming required. 4. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills required. 5. Ability to work with diverse groups of students and teachers. 6. Ability to work with children. 7. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs required. 8. Experience with grant writing preferred. 9. Experience producing full-dome content preferred. 10. Experience working with animation and modeling software preferred. 11. Experience with audio and video production tools preferred. SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience This is a security sensitive position, and a background check and drug screening will be completed prior to employment.
