FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

The MPH Program in the Department of Health Sciences at Lehman College of the City University of New York and a consortial member of the CUNY School of Public Health invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin Fall 2014. In addition to offering the core MPH courses, the Lehman MPH Program offers two specializations in community-based public health and health equity and in public health geographic information science. The Program is committed to increasing the number of under-represented professionals in public health and contributing to the improvement of public health in the Bronx. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in health care policy and management; advise students; engage in scholarly research and publication; seek outside funding; collaborate in promoting a research agenda for the Program; and actively participate in Departmental and College activities, committees, and professional organizations. The Department of Health Sciences has additional programs in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, Exercise Science, Health Education, Health Services Administration, and Recreation Education and Therapy. Faculty will  have the opportunity to collaborate with the Lehman College based centers and institutes on research and other projects of scholarly interest.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in public health or a related field and evidence of the potential for active research and publication in public health. Preference will be given to applicants who have expertise in health care policy and management. We are seeking candidates who desire to contribute to a dynamic, growing public health program with a diverse student body and strong commitment to working with communities. Also required are the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and active in professional organizations and commitment to students.
