The Departments of Earth and Atmospheric Science and Biology are searching for a candidate with demonstrated research expertise in terrestrial, ocean, or marine environments with strong credentials in Earth remote sensing and Earth systems modeling. Candidates should have an established research program or a demonstrated potential for developing a new program at City College. Senior-level candidates are expected to have a strong history of research funding from federal agencies or other sources. The successful candidate will lend the needed intellectual breadth to coordinate existing talents within the departments and NOAA-CREST Center to build a new interdisciplinary dimension to a vigorously growing program. The candidate will also be required to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, including the establishment of new courses in his/her area of specialization that expand and strengthen our multi-disciplinary Earth systems/environmental engineering science programs, and help in the growth of our graduate programs. The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to NOAA-CREST research activities and initiatives, building strength in the areas of satellite remote sensing applications and field-based observations in marine, coastal, ocean, and/or terrestrial ecosystem science.


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
