The Vice President is responsible for one or more major College divisions and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.  He/she incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources.  He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible for personnel, budget, operations, and communications.

Nominations and applications are invited for a dynamic visionary to assume the position of Vice President for Information Technology at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), a member institution of The City University of New York (CUNY). 

BMCC has an enrollment of more than 24,000 students in degree programs, 8,500 students in adult and continuing education programs with more than 2,500 faculty and staff located in three campus buildings in Lower Manhattan including the newly opened facility Fiterman Hall.

The VP will play an integral role in providing institutional leadership in addressing technology and its impact on and support for the teaching, learning, research and administrative processes in the new higher educational environment. S/he will develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive strategic IT plan for BMCC, aligning operational IT goals with the objectives of BMCC's educational mission. The VP will work with campus groups and IT-dependent stakeholders in the BMCC community to help support efforts to use emerging technologies that encourage excellence in teaching and learning and that improve support services for faculty, students, and staff.

The Vice President for Information Technology will be responsible for all aspects of information technology academic, administrative, and research functions including the campus-wide data and voice networks, software systems in mainframe, server and personal computer environment, IT support for faculty teaching and research activities, participation in the University-wide Enterprises Research Planning (ERP) initiative, telecommunication services, IT security, Academic IT Center, and the Multimedia Center. S/he insures the integrated approach to all internal computing, media, and communications technology services, develops policies and procedures based on best practices, and oversees the financial management for the departments, programs, and services that comprise the Information Technology Division. The Vice President for Information Technology reports to the President and is a member of the President's Cabinet.

The responsibilities of this position include:
- Provide leadership and manage the daily operations of the Division of Information Technology, which includes the Computer Center, Media Center, and Academic Computing.
- Implement information technology goals established in the college's strategic Plan, University/College Goals and Targets, and other planning initiatives approved by the President of the college.
- Plan and manage all academic, administrative, and research information technology at the college including system and software acquisitions, network design and implementation, and the delivery of information technology service in online learning, classroom technology, media distribution, configuring, research, student support, and administrative functions.
- Manage and oversee the implementation, upgrade, and future build out of the college's network infrastructure to ensure stability, reliability, and security of college systems, data, applications and information, as well as meet changing technology demands of various stakeholders of the college.
- Recommend long- and short-range management information system plans and budget to the President and other college leadership.
- Establish guidelines and programs based on best practices for effective information technology management.
- Research, recommend, and implement emerging technologies, creating an environment fostering innovative teaching and learning with technology.
- Collaborate with the University Chief Information Officer in the implementation of enterprise-wide technology solutions and services that will provide strategic operational, technology, and cost benefits to the college, and represent the college on the central office committees and projects, such as the City University IT Steering Committee.
- Chair the BMCC Student Technology Fee Committee, which oversees improvements to student technology equipment and services.


This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.
