FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Civil Engineering of the City College of New York/CUNY is seeking to fill a faculty position in the broad multidisciplinary area of infrastructure resiliency, including complementary areas on the infrastructure rehabilitation, hardening, security, sustainability, and planning. Of particular interest to the Department is the development of integrated research programs on Structural-Transportation Engineering, particularly bridges and highways. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in developing, leading, and managing large-scale initiatives such as directing centers or institutes/labs or technical agencies/divisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Appointment at the Full Professor level is expected, beginning Fall 2014.  The requirements for this position include Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering. The candidate should either have or be expected to obtain a PE license. The candidate should complement current expertise in the Department, and play a significant role in the development of long-term research programs in the broad area of civil infrastructure, leading to the eventual establishment of a major research center. The candidate is expected to develop collaborative work with CE faculty and the Institute for Transportation Systems, the University Transportation Research Center, the NOAA-CREST Center, and the CUNY Institute for Urban Systems. The successful candidate is expected to develop quality scholarship through refereed publications, an externally funded research program, excellent classroom teaching, and service activities at the national and college levels.
