GENERAL DUTIES

As a key member of the executive management team, the Assistant Vice President oversees one or more College functions to fulfill comprehensive program goals and contributes to overall College strategic objectives.  He/she plans and implements a range of successful programs; and oversees staff, budget, operations, and facilities.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Reporting directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost/Assistant Vice President works closely with the Provost in providing leadership for work related to strengthening college readiness and the educational pipeline from K-12 and adult programs to Medgar Evers College. The Associate Provost has broad oversight for several related units and programs, including the School for Professional and Community Development, Adult and Continuing Education, and College Now. 

The Associate Provost provides leadership for better integrating educational pipeline programs with the academic offerings of the College. In this capacity, s/he works with faculty to develop articulation agreements and pathways for successful enrollment into Medgar Evers College degree programs.

The Associate Provost also leads other projects as assigned by the Provost to improve college readiness, increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates through strengthened partnerships with K-12, youth and adult service organizations, and other community partners.

Above all, the College seeks an academic leader who will both appreciate and contribute to its ambitious vision for progress and growth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

- Must possess an earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution and a minimum eight years of related experience
- Be academic leader with a proven record of administrative success and a strong commitment to serving the needs of students and serving the Central Brooklyn community and beyond
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills and a clear commitment to open and collegial governance.
- A demonstrated capacity to lead staff and a record of effective collaboration with other units and organizations; experience in youth and/or adult program administration and/or K-16 partnership program development would be an asset

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
