Perform responsible professional, administrative and analytical work developing, implementing and assessing appropriate risk management insurance safety/loss control programs. Provide research analysis and assessment of newly developed or expanded programs with recommendations to management concerning liability issues. Provide supervisory and employee training in safety and loss prevention.
The Environmental Health & Safety Department (EHS) is looking for a Safety Specialist with sound knowledge of EHS operations and best practices with the ability to use advanced technology such as testing equipment. Thorough knowledge and experience in implementing technical safety and safety programs including electrical safety, construction safety, lock-out tag-out, confined space entry, fall protection, and welding safety will be expected. Experience in developing and conducting safety training for different audiences including staff, supervisors, and managers. Experience in designing and conducting safety audits and inspections including ability to communicate the finding in written reports will be a part of this position. The ability to conduct, lead or facilitate accident investigation and developing actionable reports is expected.
Reporting to EHS Director, the Safety Specialist is responsible for management of the occupational safety component of the University's Environmental Health and Safety Operations. The position is responsible for evaluating occupation safety hazards and implementing occupation safety and operational control programs designed to mitigate such hazards and ensures KSU's compliance with federal, state and regulations and Internal policies and procedures.

Annual Salary: $43,500
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Public administration or related field and 5+ years related work experience in public/private sector. Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is a must.
