Political Science

The Political Science Department at Towson University is accepting applications for a full-time Administrative Assistant II to provide administrative support to the Political Science Department Chairperson, faculty and students.  This position is identified as Essential personnel.

Responsibilities: Serves as first point of contact for all telephone calls, e-mails, and walk-ins seeking information or assistance from the Political Science Department, Law and American Civilization program, and pre-law advising program; manages calendar and arranges meetings for the department Chairperson; processes university forms including contracts, change of major/minor, assignment of advisors and assignment of classrooms; maintains spreadsheets for faculty advising, college and university assignments and activities; maintains and updates departmental webpage and bulletin boards; runs financial reports, reconciles department ProCard and processes transfers of fund within departmental budget and accounts as well as to other offices on campus; assist with departmental events; and order office supplies and oversee purchases, maintenance and repair of office equipment.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience providing administrative support is required. The selected candidate must have skill in various computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to multi-task and interact with a diverse faculty and student body. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.

Salary: $31,894 annually with full University benefits including 10 days of annual leave, up to 14 holidays, personal and sick days; tuition remission; and excellent health, life, and retirement plans. Applicants with TU or USM service may receive salary credit. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
