Police Records Technician
Posting Description: *Department Information:* The University of Colorado-Boulder Police Department (CUPD) is a professional, dedicated, full-service police department that handles patrol, investigation, crime prevention education, emergency preparedness and related law enforcement duties for the campus community. The department operates 24 hours a day and seven days a week. It maintains quality public safety services and innovative programs by employing highly trained staff, equipped with modern technology. CUPD is continuously progressing to support the academic, research, and public service missions of the University of Colorado through its safety and security programs. *Job Responsibilities:* The Police Records Technician supports the mission of the CUPD by provisioning and retaining law enforcement reports and other related documents to internal and external customers. _NIBRS Coding and Entry - 35%_ * Reviews computerized law enforcement records stored in a records management system (RMS) for completeness and accuracy. * Enters law enforcement records accurately into the NIBRS database via the Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) and the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC) computer system. _Records Dissemination - 30%_ * Disseminates records in compliance the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) statutes, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and internal CUPD policies and procedures. _Citation Processing 10%_ * Directly responsible for processing criminal and traffic citations to include: quality assurance reviews, entry and scanning of citations into departmental RMS, and correctly disseminating them to appropriate campus or external entities. _Clery Act Compliance and Fingerprinting- 15%_ * Regular submission and publication of the criminal activity investigated by CUPD, as required by the Clery Act. * Takes fingerprints for employees within the department and other outside agencies; and also takes the fingerprints of citizens requesting such for regulatory or licensing requirements. Additionally this position provides training to new and incumbent student employees and performs other duties as assigned. *Note:* _This position works a schedule of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday._ This position will also need to work home football games and special events in a support capacity which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and disasters. This is an essential services position.
