Job Description The University of South Carolina Libraries seeks a dedicated Business Librarian to provide library services primarily to the students and faculty of the Darla Moore School of Business. Reporting to the Head of Research, Instruction and Reference, this tenure-track position will serve as an embedded librarian in a paperless library environment at the new LEED-certified Moore School building (move scheduled for May of 2014.) Duties include, but are not limited to: providing both online and in-person reference service and research support; teaching course-related instruction sessions; developing and promoting information literacy instruction related to business research; creating and maintaining online research guides and other digital learning objects; evaluating and selecting electronic resources and participating in overall collection development; updating the website and troubleshooting online access issues; coordinating course-related instruction requests for Business; and acting as the library's liaison to assigned departments within the Business School. The Darla Moore School of Business is an AACSB-accredited, nationally-ranked business school that enrolls approximately 5,400 students in its undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs. The Moore School is perhaps best known for its leadership in international business education; the International Business Undergraduate Program has been ranked number 1 for the past 17 consecutive years and the International MBA program has been ranked in the top 3 for 24 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report. University Libraries is a member of LYRASIS, OCLC, the Association of Research Libraries, and the Center for Research Libraries. The University of South Carolina, founded in 1801, enrolls approximately 24,600 undergraduate students and 6,200 graduate students on the Columbia campus. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Full-time, 12-month, unclassified, tenure-track, faculty status position with the rank of Librarian. Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: An ALA-accredited MLIS; broad knowledge of business information sources and expertise in the use of business and economics databases; ability to teach effectively in a variety of settings and formats; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work successfully with colleagues and patrons; and commitment to undertaking library and university committee responsibilities and professional development activities related to tenure requirements. A successful background check is required. Preferred Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: MBA or subject master's degree related to business or economics is highly preferred; undergraduate degree or concentration in business preferred; two or more years of teaching experience; at least one year of experience in an academic or special library environment providing business reference service; knowledge of assessment concepts and trends; understanding of current trends in academic business libraries including copyright and licensing issues; and conversant with web technologies and social media. A familiarity with Bloomberg Professional is highly desirable.
