Kenyon College, a co-educational, liberal arts and sciences institution in central Ohio, invites applications for the position of Office Manager. This is a full-time, year-round position in the Office of Admissions, reporting to the Director of Admissions. As one of the first points of contact within the Office of the Admissions, the Office Manager will welcome visitors and offer a high level of customer service to all guests. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scheduling and checking-in students for tours, interviews, information sessions, etc; managing the front lobby and waiting room and keeping these areas clean and fully stocked with Admissions materials; reserving rooms on campus for group visits and/or information sessions; collaborating with the Campus Visit Coordinator on scheduling overnight visit; maintaining the daily list of class visits for prospective students; answering and transferring phone calls; managing the general admissions email account; helping with office mailings and data entry; and other projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both in writing and speaking; great organizational skills with meticulous attention to details; strong interpersonal skills (a sense of humor is a plus); and an ability to remain calm, friendly, and professional under pressure while troubleshooting through unexpected problems. He/she will possess a strong sense of initiative, will be able to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while working independently with minimal supervision or in a team setting, will be able to think on his/her feet and anticipate issues before they arise. The ideal person will also exhibit a genuine curiosity about the world; a creative and collaborative approach to problem solving; and a high level of computer literacy, especially with Word, Excel, and Googledocs. An understanding of and appreciation for the values of a residential liberal arts college are essential. Some prior experience in higher education or in admissions is preferred, but not required. A high school degree is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Employment at Kenyon is contingent upon a successful background check. Ideal start date is July 1 or earlier if possible.
