Duties: The Dean, Career Programs, is the leader of the Career Program team responsible for the identification, organization, presentation and evaluation of courses, programs, clinical experiences and services that support and advance student learning through innovative instruction. This key member of the senior administration of the college fosters strong relationships within the campus community and with external agencies. The dean reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean, Career Programs, is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Education/Experience: Master's degree required; 5 to 7 years of documented success in the administration of career, vocational or technical programs; significant experience and accomplishments in the areas of organizational development and teamwork, fiscal/grant management and personal computer software usage are necessary to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Qualifications: The Dean, Career Programs will provide energy, leadership and guidance for the faculty and staff in the subdivision; provide overall planning, supervising, directing and evaluating of the initiatives and activities of the subdivision including the assistant dean, director of nursing, department chairs, Career Program staff in the Health, Fitness and Recreation Center and other areas; assure compliance of faculty and staff in the subdivision with college policies and procedures and with local, state and federal guidelines for programs and services; maintain appropriate accrediting status with state and federal agencies as required for program approval; excellent communication and facilitation skills in planning and implementing student-centered academic programs and services; demonstrated skills in curriculum development, creative problem solving and in the supervision and evaluation of academic programs; solid understanding of vocational and technical programs and the requirements of the specific program accrediting agencies; teaching experience in higher education; history of increased responsibility in academic administration; plus other duties as assigned.
