Assistant Professor - Coastal and Ocean Policy
Vacancy: #14F095 Position: #4719 The Department of Public and International Affairs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a position as a tenure-track assistant professor to teach classes in our new Master of Coastal and Ocean Policy Program as well as our Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program. Position starts August 2014. A doctorate in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Political Science, Planning, or a closely related field is required or must be obtained within the first academic year of employment. Prior professional experience is desirable. The successful candidate must be able to teach the policy analysis and/or quantitative methods courses in the MPA/MCOP programs. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute courses to the MCOP curriculum, many of which also serve the MPA program’s concentrations in urban and regional politics and planning, coastal planning and management, environmental policy and management, and marine policy. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise students and contribute to the development of the new MCOP program and teach undergraduate courses as needed. A willingness to teach courses via distance education technologies and alternative scheduling formats is preferred.
