Position Summary: The FRIB is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Detailer to join the Mechanical Engineering group in the Experimental Systems Division; the successful candidate will have an exceptional opportunity for career growth while designing, developing, and editing technical detail drawings; will use SolidWorks to assist in the production of drawings for the laboratory; produce mechanical detail drawings using a PC or other computer system, using SolidWorks computer aided drafting software; consult with designers, engineers, and physicists to ensure accuracy of detail part descriptions; use 2-D and 3-D drawings and models produced by designers and engineers in order to create detail drawings; use GD & T extensively; consult with fabricators to determine effective fabrication procedures; maintain records of design and detail drawings.

Knowledge acquired by completing an associate's degree in drafting and design; one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in computer aided drafting; experience using hand and measuring tools in assembling and testing components and parts; experience with SolidWorks and GD & T; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires the ability to handle export controlled materials.
