Job Description: EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY, Greenville, NC Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track position, area open, at the assistant professor level, beginning August 18, 2014. The successful applicant will have the potential to develop an active research program, secure extramural funding, and teach mainly at the undergraduate level. A doctorate is required and must be awarded by August 15, 2014. We are particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach in the areas of research methods, biological psychology, learning and cognition, ethnocultural, and/or social psychology. It is expected that the successful candidate will maintain an active lab that involves undergraduate students in supervised research and theses. We seek applicants with a willingness to take a leadership role in the undergraduate program, including student advising and/or program assessment and accreditation. Service to the university, community and profession is expected. The Department of Psychology ( has 36 full-time faculty members, 675 undergraduate majors and minors, masters-degree programs in school and industrial/organizational psychology, and a health psychology doctoral program with concentrations in clinical health, pediatric school and occupational health psychology. ECU is a public doctoral/research-intensive institution in eastern North Carolina. It is located halfway between the beautiful NC beaches and the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, thus allowing ECU researchers access to a range of rural and urban environments and diverse populations. The university has over 27,000 students and includes the Brody School of Medicine and the School of Allied Health Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications: A doctorate is required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
