GENERAL DUTIES

Organizes and administers programs to support the success of international students.

-Coordinates international student recruitment and enrollment services
-Collects, evaluates, and reports information on a number of international student success factors
-Works with campus departments on programs which promote the success of international students
-Creates and implements communications strategies, workshops/events, and other special resources to support the international student community
-Monitors compliance activities at the campus (e.g., visas, SEVIS and other reports) and stays current on regulations and other developments
-Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The International Student Specialist will report to the Director of Enrollment Management or designee. This person will:
- Assist with international student recruitment, including virtual and in-person methods.
- Help in monitoring federal regulations and policies of international students' compliance including assisting students with visas, follow up with SEVIS, and other reports.
- Provide guidance to students and help them navigate the student related functions of CUNYfirst as they transition into BMCC.
- Stay informed of current services and new developments of issues for international students.
- Assist in creating and implementing orientation and success workshops, services, and resources for international students regarding topics such as transition to college, NYC, and the US (housing, medical insurance, etc.)
- Co-develop electronic, print, social media, and other communications.
- Provide assistance with major college-wide events such as commencement, orientation, registration, and honors convocation.
- Participate in campus-wide retention and persistence outreach and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in student personnel administration, higher education, or a related field preferred
- Must have extensive background and knowledge in understanding and administering Federal rules and regulations regarding international student matters
- Must have extensive background and experience working with international students 
- Must have experience with working knowledge of current higher education practice, theory, and research
- Knowledge of best practices in student success program implementation with an emphasis on research, assessment, and data-informed decision making
- Successful implementation of student programs for a diverse student population, and evidence of successful collaborations
- Must possess strong interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and proven leadership
- Willingness to work evening hours and weekends as necessary
- Be a dynamic individual who can work independently and under general supervision to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors, and campus community
- Be or have been involved in professional associations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

COMPENSATION

$42,873 - $55,782

CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans.  Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
