Position Focus: The individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the RULER training program of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER provides evidence-based programming that helps K-12 school communities integrate the teaching of emotional intelligence into everyday practice. This individual will work with Center leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan to guide the RULER training program''s staff, materials, and protocols. Duties include but are not limited to: serves as one of the Center''s lead trainers and coaches for RULER for all levels/programs; develops and implements a curriculum/certification program that will be used for all RULER trainers; recruits interviews, hires, trains, and supervises RULER trainers both at the Center and in the field; liaises with school districts to build internships and practicums for trainers, including coordinating trainer visits to schools; creates and supervises the creation of additional curricula to support RULER Anchor Tools and Feeling Words Curriculum; identifies needs and opportunities for new products, services, training modules, curricula, etc. that will best serve educators, school-based trainers, and implementation of RULER; attends Center planning meetings, reports progress and presents needs of training department, and contributes to decisions related to the future of RULER; works with the Center''s communication department to develop a plan to inform all school-based RULER trainers with new techniques and strategies for implementing RULER successfully; builds and maintains a library of resources that address frequently needed and/or required competencies trainers; oversees RULER professional development efforts in schools districts through assessment and documentation.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Reviews and determines staffing needs, job posting requirements, salary guidelines, and labor agreement interpretations for exempt and non-exempt staff in one or more functional department of the University.
2. Manages the administrative support needs for exempt and nonexempt staff and provides recommendations, improvements, solutions and assistance as needed.
3. Manages and monitors technology needs, conducts inventory, and system requirements for the assigned departments.
4. Develops and prepares budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analyses and the actual vs. budgeted performance reports for the departments.
5. Manages the use of facilities in one or more departments including office space, work stations, equipment, and office supplies.
6. Manages administrative support for activities of one or more departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
7. Manages and coordinates training sessions for assigned departments when new policies or practices are adopted.
8. Ensures compliance with University and federal regulations as they apply to the assigned departments.
9. Identifies, plans, and develops administrative policies for the assigned departments.
10. Assists in reviewing and implements University and departmental policies as they pertain to the administrative functions of the assigned department.
11. Assesses and makes recommendations regarding staff development and staffing levels.
12. Monitors, develops, plans, and executes systematic research on user requirements through such mechanisms as surveys, interviews, focus groups and competitive analysis.
13. Manages a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
14. May perform other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience
Minimum requirement of Bachelor''s Degree in related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1: Demonstrated leadership ability, including skills and experience in project and staff management.

Required Skill/Ability 2: Effective and dynamic speaker, superb oral communication and presentation skills.

Required Skill/Ability 3: Superior writing skills and attention to detail.

Required Skill/Ability 4: Knowledge of different types of school systems (public, private, charter, independent) and of best practices in professional development of educators (e.g., adult learning, distance learning, etc).

Required Skill/Ability 5: Familiarity with Common Core standards, teacher certification protocols, leadership development, and general educational processes and practices.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Five years of experience writing curricular and training materials, managing projects and staff, training and coaching adults on a social and emotional learning program. Self-motivated with a deep interest in making a substantial positive impact in education research and outreach.
