The College The College of Business is the largest and fastest growing college at Zayed University with over 900 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate students. The College offers degrees in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources and Management, as well as a joint degree in Information Systems and Technology Management in association with the College of Information Technology. The College also offers several graduate programs including an Executive Masters of Business Administration, M.S. in Finance and an M.S in International Business. The College employs 75 faculty members across all the typical business disciplines. The College was awarded AACSB accreditation in June 2013. The Opportunity The Dean provides management and leadership of the College and its programs across both the Dubai and Abu Dhabi campuses of Zayed University. The Dean promotes the College’s interests, representing the College to the internal and external community as well as locally and internationally. As a collaborative member of the senior academic administration team, the Dean is also responsible for furthering the University’s mission and goals. Anticipated Commencement Date: August 2014. The Responsibilities • Develops a dynamic long-term strategy for the College that advances the University’s mission and goals. • Promotes the understanding of the College’s and the University’s mission and goals by faculty, students, and staff. • Develops and sustains a business program and curriculum aligned with AACSB requirements. • Provides academic leadership to the College Faculty • Engages in active, assertive faculty recruitment and retention. • Works continuously to improve the quality of instruction in the College. • Improves and extends the College’s graduate programs. • Ensures that entrepreneurship is embedded in the curriculum and culture of the college • Advances the College’s research agenda, activity and productivity. • Expands the College’s outreach and community engagement program, particularly with respect to entrepreneurship activities. • Prepares the College strategic plan and related budget proposals. • Establishes academic alliances and partnerships with local schools, other institutions within the UAE, and leading international universities. The Requirements • Must possess: a PhD in Business or related business discipline (or equivalent professional and academic experience) • Proven academic leadership and managerial experience at level of a department chair or higher. • Familiarity with AACSB standards and experience in the accreditation process would be highly valued. • Five years’ work experience in academic administration at the level of Department Chair or above. Preferably this experience will include experience as a Dean or Associate Dean of a College of Business in an internationally accredited, Western-type educational environment. • Demonstrated success as a teacher and scholar with at least five year of successful full-time teaching in a recognized university or college. • Extensive research record comprising international peer reviewed publications and evidence of competitively funded research grants. • Extensive experience in entrepreneurship capacity building in a community, business or government context. • Experience in a learning outcomes based, assessment-rich, educational institution. • Evidence of leadership in the development of new programs that meet international standards and success in building teamwork and creating a shared vision. • Ability to work with faculty from diverse cultures and nationalities and across disciplinary lines. • Patience and tolerance for ambiguity and change and a high energy level. • Some proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
