California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.
Conditions of Employment:
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.
Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

The Associate Vice President position falls within the Division of the Vice President for Administration and Finance which has responsibilities for financial management, personnel services, development and maintenance of physical plant facilities planning and scheduling, environmental health and occupational safety, emergency planning and management, risk management, parking and police services, University Foundation, and special programs and projects in support of the goals of the University.
Major Job Duties:
The Associate Vice President provides leadership and support to all areas of the Administration and Finance Division with specific responsibility for Accounting Services, the Budget Office, and Business Process Improvement which includes audit functions and quality improvement. The Associate Vice President is the senior staff officer for the Administration and Finance Division and will be involved in a wide variety of complex and sensitive administrative support activities. This position is expected to serve as the acting Vice President in the absence of the Vice President for Administration and Finance. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of organization and management, business and financial practices, and supervision. Demonstrated ability to: relate and apply this knowledge to the needs and special demands and characteristics of the academic environment; determine priorities and coordinate the timely achievement of objectives in a variety of functional areas; use good judgment and analyze complex problems, visualize the implications in a given situation and plan and implement major programs; business and management skills appropriate to the university setting; promote a service oriented environment; be innovative and results oriented; experience in a higher education environment or other complex institution of a similar business environment. Must be able to work effectively in a multi-ethnic environment; and, must be able to work effectively with staff, administrators, faculty and others both on and off campus.
Experience and Education:
Education: Incumbent must possess a bachelor's degree in related field such as accounting or finance.
Preferred: Education: A master's degree in a related field such as accounting or finance.
Experience: Incumbent must possess at least five (5) years experience at a senior administrative level in a large organization including a comprehensive knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of administration. Demonstrated record of success involving major business and financial management systems and operation in a business environment; have a demonstrated record of integrity; have record of success involving major business and financial management systems and operation in a business environment; have a demonstrated record of integrity; have experience managing a diverse staff; and possess exceptional interpersonal, communication and leaderships skills. Excellent human and public relations skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and participate in the development of effective recommendations for policy developments and implementation. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and on a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong financial and analytical skills, and comfortable with technology.
Preferred Experience: In a public or private college/university setting. Experience in the CSU system in a high level finance administrative position.
Salary Range: The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
