Job Description-Overview :

The Client Service department, in the small and large animal hospitals, includes Reception (HLA and SAH front desks), Client Liaisons, Switchboard and Medical Records. The primary function of this department is to ensure excellence in client service and client experience in all interactions at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals and the Hospital for Large Animals.

 

This position works in each of the Client Service departments depending on hospital needs for that day/week. In each area the ability to provide excellence in customer service is most important. The Admit Discharge Secretary will work at the SAH Front Desk.  Duties include:

  • Admitting and discharging patients;
  • Acting as lobby greeter;
  • Medical Records managing record systems both paper and electronic;
  • Client Liaison Department scheduling client appointments;
  • And as needed in HLA Reception scheduling client appointments and admitting and discharging patients;
  • And Switchboard/ER triaging and directing calls.
Job Description - Requirements :

Basic Requirements:  High School Diploma or the equivalent with minimum 2 years of client service experience. Microsoft Office, ability to learn custom systems quickly and type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs with or without accommodation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  3+ years of experience in a related veterinary or human medical field. Associates Degree in a related field. Certifications in leadership development and/or client service areas. Exceptional Client Service Awards and/or acknowledgments. Knowledge of medical/veterinary terminology. Experience in the animal or veterinary industry.

 

Special Work Schedule Requirements:  Schedule is Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 4pm-12am and will include rotating holidays, both University and calendar. Some alternate hours will be required for shift coverage, meetings or trainings. This position is considered "essential" which requires reporting to work during University closings for inclement weather as well as University bonus days.
