The Office of Technology Services (OTS) is committed to providing the highest quality support for communications and computing to facilitate student success, lifelong learning, teaching and the business processes of Towson University. OTS is currently seeking well-qualified candidates for Technology Generalist positions. These positions provide office, classroom, and computer lab support for TU in the Northeastern Maryland location on the campus of Harford Community College. These positions are identified as Sustainable personnel.
Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, document, and resolve software, hardware, audiovisual, network, and connectivity problems; install, test, and support software and applications on computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones; research problems and identify potential solutions; manage assigned tasks to ensure work is completed in a timely manner; conduct quality assurance inspections on work performed by vendors and contractors; analyze technology needs and make recommendations for modifications and upgrades; conduct end-user training on computers, systems, and applications; be on alert for potential security risks and breaches and implement appropriate preventive measures to ensure the health of digital devices, client personal data, student personal data and University data; and attend meetings on technology and support issues.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent and three years of experience with the types of hardware and software to be supported, this should include two years of paid experience providing user support, user training, and/or programming. Knowledge of personal computers (PC and Macintosh), Windows Operating Systems, File Servers, Peripherals, Remote Management Tools, wired and wireless network connectivity, and Microsoft Office software. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail. Candidates will be expected to work evenings and weekends as needed. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary: Competitive salary with full University benefits which include excellent health insurance, life insurance, and retirement plans; tuition remission; 22 days of annual leave, up to 14 holidays, 3 personal days and 15 sick days. This position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
