ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR MBA PROGRAMS
The College of William & Mary seeks applicants for the position of Associate Dean for MBA Programs. The Associate Dean for MBA Programs reports to the Dean of the Mason School of Business and works in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Faculty. The AD is a member of the Dean’s senior management team. The AD leads and oversees all aspects of the Mason School’s MBA Programs and operations. The individual is responsible for supervision of the Director of MBA Admissions, the Program Directors for the MBA, Flex MBA, and Executive MBA programs, and the Executive Director for MBA Career Management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Strategy and Vision ▪ Work with the Dean, Associate Dean for Faculty, CFO, CMO and COO to develop a vision and financial and operating plans, as well as key strategic goals for all of the W&M Mason School’s MBA programs ▪ Engage faculty, staff, students, and alumni in development of strategic vision and goals ▪ Develop a five-year plan which will include enrollment target and revenue/expenditure reports for all three programs ▪ Align efforts with the School’s rankings’ goals and success—a detailed plan is needed in this area with timelines and milestones; positive outcomes are essential Program Content, Structure and Execution ▪ Work closely with the Associate Dean for Faculty and the Faculty ▪ Embrace the key goal of anticipating and responding to the evolving needs of business and management education ▪ Collaborate with Mason School’s Alumni Relations team ▪ Focus on global business initiatives, alignment with Mason School Centers, and distance education; be instrumental in developing a program/product mix that effectively anticipates and addresses the needs of the MBA markets ▪ Teaching in one or more of the programs Program Staff ▪ Oversee all management aspects—hiring, professional development, assignment of responsibilities, evaluation--of direct program staff for the MBA programs, including the Directors and their immediate support personnel ▪ Oversee operational components of the MBA programs Program Brand and Messaging ▪ Work with Mason School’s Chief Marketing Officer on the messaging and marketing for the Mason School’s MBA programs and on promoting the programs to outside constituencies ▪ Work with program staff and faculty on messaging to prospective students and sponsoring companies/organizations for the Flex and EMBA programs • Represent MSOB at MBA industry association meetings; consider taking a leadership role in one of these associations. Financial Responsibility ▪ Work with CFO to develop financial/operating plans in order to meet revenue goals; communicate the goals to the Admissions and Program Directors for recruitment strategies ▪ Approve program budget proposals for all MBA programs and operations; align budgets with program goals and strategies Required Education and Experience: MBA or Ph.D. preferred; will consider graduate degree in an administrative field in special cases Minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in higher education administration Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Excellent management skills Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff Demonstrated commitment to diversity and a culture of inclusiveness Commitment to delivering quality education and high levels of service to students Teaching experience at the higher education level Desired characteristics include: strong understanding of academic administration; exceptional project management skills; familiarity with instructional resources within a distance education environment.
