GENERAL DUTIES

Administers College registration operations under management direction. 

- Coordinates registration services such as grade collection entries and changes, publication of semester course offerings, final examination schedules, classroom scheduling and requests for student information

- Promotes policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations; advises College personnel regarding the development and implementation of responses to regulatory changes

- Oversees the conformity of record release procedures to management policies and legal requirements, including the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws and regulations governing the confidentiality of student records

- Creates and reviews student communications from the Registrar's Office; ensures transcript and Degree verification requests are handled in a timely manner

- Recommends and implements improvements to office operations; assists with strategic planning

- Prepares reports and analyses on registration activities

- May train faculty and staff on retention techniques, record-keeping protocol and/or registration systems

- May supervise office operations and/or department budget

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Registrar Specialist will be responsible for coordinating various operational aspects of the Registrar's Office.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Registrar Specialist will:
- Coordinate registration activities including, but not limited to, grade collection and modifications, processing, inputting, and tracking of E-Permits and Records Maintenance.
- Oversee the record evaluation process and ensure the curricular information necessary to produce degree audits for graduating students is handled in a timely manner.
- Assist with strategic planning and review flow of data between CUNYfirst and other departmental applications and resources; assess, merge, and discard duplicate or inaccurate student records within CUNYfirst to ensure integrity of student data as well as make recommendations and implement improvements.
- Create and review student communications from the Registrar's office.
- Ensure transcript and degree verification requests are administered in a timely and appropriate fashion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

City College experience is preferred.  A minimum of four years of related work experience in a higher education setting preferred.  The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituents including students and the campus community.  The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.  He/she should be a team player and have the ability to maintain an excellent level of performance under pressure.  Proficient knowledge of MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint highly preferred.  PeopleSoft/CUNYfirst experience, specifically within Student Records, is also preferred.  Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required; detail oriented and the ability to multi-task preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
