ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

California State University, Northridge (CSUN), seeks a strategic and collaborative Assistant Vice President for Resource Management who is committed to the University’s mission and ambitious plans for the future.  Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, the AVP will lead and manage all budgeting and accounting functions for the University Advancement Division and serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the CSUN Foundation.

  • Collaborate with the Vice President in setting the overall strategic direction for the department. 
  • Holds fiduciary responsibility for the safeguarding of Foundation assets totaling about $120 million and annual revenues over $20 million and signature authority over 1,400 Foundation accounts and endowments.
  • Responsible for all tax and financial compliance reporting and audits of the Foundation; monitors the asset allocation and performance of investment portfolios valuing over $88 million.
  • Acts as liaison between the investment managers and the Board’s Investment and Finance Committee; and conducts the Investment Consultant searches and negotiates the investment fee structure.
  • Oversees the development and management of department and program budgets; advises VP on major budgetary and resource allocation decisions.
  • Provides financial status reports for board of directors and administration as needed.
  • Lead and manage reporting, thanking and acknowledgement process and systematic communications to the donors to ensure they are stewarded in a timely and engaging manner.
  • Insures system integrity, security access and management of the alumni and donor database which has over 400,000 constituent records and oversee prospect research program.
  • Support Human Resources functions for University Advancement, as needed; reviews and approves hiring and salary actions to ensure compliance with university policy.

The ideal candidate will have at least six years of progressively responsible experience in leadership and change management; building and managing foundation functions, preferably in higher education; strong analytical skills and demonstrated competence in financial and relationship management; database experience (PeopleSoft and Raiser’s Edge), accounting systems, and budgeting and mailing procedures.
