Develops and administers processes and policies regarding Human Resources. 

- Advises employees and managers on Human Resources policies and guidelines; provides a high level of customer service in assisting members of the College community

- Supervises and administers one or more human resources programs such as recruiting, pay administration, employee orientation, employee benefits, data entry and recordkeeping, and performance appraisal/reappointment practices

- Maintains an in-depth understanding of CUNY rules and regulations, relevant laws and guidelines, collective bargaining agreements, and College policies, and applies these to his/her areas of responsibility

- Investigates regarding sensitive employee issues or complaints  

- Helps create innovative communications such as manuals, web pages, or employee meetings and provides these to the College community

- Performs related duties as assigned.

Higher Education Assistant




Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Operations, the HR Systems Specialist will be responsible for the following duties in addition to the general duties:
- Administers Human Capital Management (HCM) in CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft/Oracle System) activities including oversight of Position Management, TAM, Workforce Administration.
- Acts as a liaison between HR and DoIT in developing and implementing technological solutions to support HR functions, including but not limited to onboarding and electronic time and leave system.
- Manages the position vacancy announcement and recruitment process for  all searches for the College.
- Supervises the CUNYFirst/HCM staff to ensure timely data entry into CUNYFirst and enhancement in the data integrity.
- Coordinates Chancellor University Report activities.
- Researches and responds to inconsistency reports to resolve data errors.
- Assists in the implementation and facilitation of CUNYFirst/HCM related training program for the College Community.
- Maintains and updates HR website and Employee Center.

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.


- Must demonstrate excellent organizational, written/verbal communications, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Two years of human resources experience in higher education with focus on human resources information systems (as part of the required four years' related experience)
- Ability to manage multiple projects with demanding deadlines
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle human resources information systems preferably in a higher education entity and proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must


$42,873 - $53,032


CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans.  Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
