Consistent with its mission, the School of Law’s motto is "educating for service and justice" and its goal is to produce attorneys who not only meticulously care for their clients' needs, but also recognize their own overarching duty to the profession and to society. This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly collaborative, forward-looking, enthusiastic leader to inspire a tightly-knit cohort of faculty, staff, and students, while guiding the school as it continues to seek excellence as a premier law school with a focus on educating practice-ready lawyers prepared to enter an increasingly complex and dynamic legal landscape.
Founded in 1878, Creighton University serves approximately 4,150 undergraduate and 3,900 post-graduate students, who pursue degrees in more than 50 majors and 20 graduate and professional programs in nine schools and colleges. Creighton is one of the top 10 Catholic institutions in the nation and one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. Grounded in the 450-year-old Jesuit tradition and guided by its Catholic identity of academic excellence and service to others, it is one of the most complex institutions of its size. It is consistently ranked number one among regional universities in the Midwest and is moving into a new era of growth and prominence, pioneering interdisciplinary approaches to scholarship, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service, and working toward a fully integrated experience embracing academics and student life.
The next Dean of the School of Law will join the university at a time of tremendous opportunity. In addition to a strong legal curriculum and dedicated faculty of 35 full-time professors, the School of Law runs clinics and offers an international exchange program as well as joint degree programs and opportunities.
The Dean will play a crucial role in defining the next stage of the School of Law and addressing a number of key strategic and operational priorities. The Dean will articulate a forward-looking vision that builds upon and celebrates the school’s history and identity; continue to foster strong and transparent cooperation and kinship among faculty, staff, and students; and further engage with the school’s external community, including a loyal alumni base.
