FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Education and Language Acquisition is seeking to fill a position for an assistant professor in Spanish.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature and Language, Romance Studies, Comparative Literature, or Spanish Linguistics is required.

The candidate should have training in second language pedagogy, a minimum of two years of experience in teaching Spanish at the college level and in an urban setting, and a demonstrated interest in or working knowledge about heritage language. Preference will be given to a candidate who has experience in course or curriculum development, assessment, or student advisement.  Also required are evidence of successful teaching, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and an ability to serve on college/departmental committees and work collegially across campus. Previous teaching experience in applied linguistics or bilingual education is a plus. The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in scholarly and professional development activities such as publications and conference presentations.
