Butler County Community College is currently accepting applications for a nine-month full-time, tenure track Criminology Instructor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division. The instructor will begin in the Fall 2014 semester and will teach primarily at the main campus. Courses may also be assigned at other locations and day or evening to meet required credit load. Reporting to the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Criminology Instructor is responsible for teaching introductory and advanced courses in any of the following: Crime and Justice Systems, Juvenile Justice, Criminal Procedure, Corrections, and Criminal Law. Also, opportunities to teach courses in the Homeland Security Program will be available and preferred. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: advising and recruiting students; advancing the Criminology and Emergency Services curricula through program and course development; participating on Division and College committees; serving the campus community; assisting with accreditation activities; and promoting student retention. Qualifications: Required: • A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Criminology, Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, or related field. • A record of excellence in teaching. • Three years teaching experience at the undergraduate level. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Computer literacy and proficiency. Preferred: • A Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution or enrollment in an accredited graduate program beyond the Master’s degree. • Experience teaching courses in the Homeland Security field. • Experience teaching with advanced technology. • Experience with web-based course creation and delivery. • Community college teaching experience. • Experience with curriculum development and assessment. Candidates invited to campus for an interview will be required to craft and deliver a field-related lesson to the search committee. The lesson topic will be provided after the candidate’s interview is confirmed. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately.
