Position Summary: The Economics Program in the School of Public Policy invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

This position will teach and participate in the School of Public Policy, which offers Masters and PhD degrees in Public Policy and undergraduate BA/BS degrees in Economics, Political Science, and Sociology.

The successful candidate will specifically teach Economics courses in the areas of international trade and/or public economics; be responsible for developing a robust research agenda that furthers the strategic goals of OSU and the School of Public Policy; and provide service to the department, university, and wider community as appropriate.

Position Duties: 50% Teaching and Advising
Teaching a combination of four, quarter-term undergraduate and graduate courses per year. Advise graduate students in their scholastic, academic, research, and professional development.

40% Scholarship
Engage in policy-relevant research and publish results in appropriate peer-reviewed journals (or equivalent). Seek external grants to fund own and students' research, as appropriate.

10% Service
Provide service to the School in the form of committee work and attendance at relevant School, College, and University events; to the profession through attendance and presentations at meetings, manuscript reviewing, and leadership activities; and to the larger community through engagement with policy issues of relevance to Oregonians.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: PhD in Economics or closely related field at time of appointment.

Demonstrated capacity for excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students.

Demonstrated capacity for excellence in scholarship and research abilities.

Expertise in policy area that furthers Oregon State University's Strategic Goals.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications: Commitment to teaching in the field of international trade and/or public economics.

A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Demonstrated or potential capacity to engage with policy makers.

Scholarly Outcomes for Position (academic faculty only): An ongoing research program that results each year in the publication of at least one peer-reviewed journal article in appropriate journals (or equivalent); evidence of teaching strength and innovation; advising policy graduate students; and regularly participating in external funding opportunities.
