Assistant Director, Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity
Job Duties: The Assistant Director, an integral member of the OEEO team, will report directly to the Director of OEEO. This person will support the office’s mission by working with the Director and other OEEO staff to compile and review data for Miami’s annual Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) for minorities and females and also Miami’s annual AAP for veterans and people with disabilities; follow and track federal regulation changes regarding equal employment / affirmative action, harassment, discrimination and retaliation; collect and analyze data for OEEO, as requested by the Director and/or other OEEO staff; track employment related movement of faculty and staff; assist Director and other OEEO staff with implementation of the AAP; perform affirmative action internal audits as required by federal and state government agencies; assist Associate Director with review of hire recommendations, promotion recommendations, recruitment plans, collection of applicant flow data, preparing applicant flow data reports and providing them to hiring departments; meet with search committees for unclassified/administrative searches. Compile data for and file Miami University's Federal Contractor Veterans' Employment (VETS-100A) Report. In consultation with the Associate Director, conduct harassment and discrimination prevention and response trainings including Title IX; prepare annual report of harassment and discrimination trainings and other reports as needed; assist with harassment and discrimination investigations as needed; represent OEEO on various committees and at various meetings; ensure federal and state labor law posters are current and properly posted; and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Human Resources Management or a related field; at least one year of related experience involving affirmative action/equal employment and/or harassment and discrimination prevention and response programs, and/or human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of non-discrimination policies; proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; ability to complete projects on a timely basis and manage multiple priorities; excellent organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with others and also to work independent of direct supervision; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; excellent communication skills and an ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed. (Experience gained during the completion of degree programs may be counted towards these requirements.) Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of progressive experience in an affirmative action/equal opportunity office in a higher education setting; experience conducting data analysis, and report writing; experience conducting trainings; experience implementing an affirmative action plan; knowledge of AutoAAPWeb or other affirmative action planning software; proficiency of Microsoft Access; experience with an online applicant tracking system; and knowledge of or experience with Ellucian Banner higher education software.
