Position Summary:

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Library Technician.

The candidate would be expected to: check material in and out, issue library memberships, collect fines and fees, and answer questions about billing accounts and claims returned material; assist students with reference questions as able when library is open and librarians are not on duty.

Required Skills or Software: Basic Knowledge of MS Word 2010, Basic Knowledge of MS Excel 2010, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment

Required Years of Experience: 1

Other Requirements:

One year of previous library experience or comparable detail-oriented experience. Must have experience with web-based searching techniques to maintain files. Must perform duties using broad knowledge of library, library practices and procedures. Must have the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing information-management environment.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the University academic calendar and library hours including evenings and weekends. Must be able to use step stool and be capable of repetitious lifting and stretching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Innovative Interface “Millennium” online library management system or another web-based library management system of equivalent functionality and complexity.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position’s schedule for the fall and spring semesters is Friday 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Saturday 8:45 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 2:45 pm – 11:00 pm.

Summer session schedule to be discussed at interview but Saturdays from 8:45 am – 5:00 pm is non-negotiable.
