Job Summary The Assistant Director, Office of Disability Services, will help The University meet its Federally-mandated responsibilities to students with disabilities. Will be responsible for planning reasonable and appropriate accommodations designed to help remediate the substantial limitations caused by disabilities in the academic arena. Required Minimum Qualifications 1. Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling or a relevant field and one year of experience working with adults with disabilities. 2. Experience reading and interpreting complex medical, psychoeducational and psychological reports to understand the substantial limitations caused by disability. 3. Experience identifying substantial limitations imposed by disability in the academic environment and in making appropriate accommodations to help remediate such limitations. 4. Extensive knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amended Act of 2008 as they pertain to postsecondary disability services. Proven ability to use such knowledge in practical application as appropriate to postsecondary disability services. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 6. Must be able to observe strict policies of confidentiality. 7. Experience with personal computers and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access and Excel Preferred Qualifications 1. Supervisory/management and counseling experience strongly preferred. 2. Licensure or certification in the candidate's discipline as appropriate (e.g., Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor.
