Posting Description: The PRA will be required to create innovative solutions to meet the needs of biomedical researchers; to provide timely, accurate data of the broadest feasible scope, while maintaining data privacy and security. Responsible for management of a variety of study databases, a mix of programming languages and techniques to integrate these study databases with analysis programs, popular research tools, and public databases. Responsibilities: 1. Works to maintain and improve functionality of multiple study databases. 2. Enters a variety of genotyping and sequencing data into the study databases, facilitates transfer of data from the database to the Linux analysis cluster, and works with lab personnel and faculty to develop genetic analysis/data mining programs. 3. Designs, modifies, develops, writes, tests, and implements web server and/or browser programming for user interfaces and their underlying processing logic. Uses tools, platforms and languages that can include, but are not limited to: Javascript, HTML, XML, Java, Perl, Python,C++, Django. 4. Designs, modifies, develops, writes, tests, and implements database structures to meet system requirements, using tools, platforms, and paradigms that can include, but are not limited to: SQL Server, mySQL, XML, MS Access. 5. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. 6. Experience in supporting population or large clinical studies with a substantial genetic component. 7. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Follows approved software evaluation procedures and helps others with integration testing. 8. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish a variety of complicated tasks. 9. Participates in team discussion and planning of all phases of software development projects, including repeated iterations through the cycle of requirements, design, implementation, testing, validation, documentation and training. 10. Designs or discovers system development tools to help the team function. Evaluates these with team and may implement them and educate team on their use. 11. Must have the ability to explain technical computer science concepts to a non-technical audience. 12. Designs and implements knowledge representation systems for classifying, querying and reasoning about biomedical research data using tools and languages that include, but are not limited to: XML, and relational databases. 13. Learns new programming languages, libraries, techniques, API's as needed. 14. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics or bioinformatics is required along with one to five years of experience as a database administrator for population or large clinical studies with a substantial genetic component.

Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in multiple programming languages and database tools is required. The applicant must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, statistics or bioinformatics.
