SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SR
Duties: Working within Information Systems and Computing's Network Engineering and Services Group, provide critical support as primary Systems Administrator for Linux-based services in support of customer facing VoIP projects, WWW, and critical network infrastructure services, including hardware and OS installation, configuration, documentation, maintenance and disaster recovery; design, install, configure and maintain software and storage for open-source and in-house applications running on Linux-based systems for customer facing and internal campus services; provide oversight and validation of work performed by vendor technical teams; conceive and implement virtualization projects on VMware, Amazon Web Services for development, production, and disaster recovery needs; coordinate systems and services monitoring and maintenance; maintain existing systems, tracking service and repair history; test new computer hardware and operating system technologies and areas, writing reports on findings; communicate regularly on status and progress to supervisors and project teams; maintain regular contact with key vendors via technical support channels.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of Linux server administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Production server administration experience, including new system builds and ongoing systems maintenance and experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Amazon Web Services). Strong organization and verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to handle technical projects preferred. Basic Apache and MySQL administration and experience with DNS, DHCP configuration and management on Linux, with commercial or Open Source Voice over IP solutions, and with storage area networks (EMC, Cisco Fabric Manager) a plus.
