Duties: University of Pennsylvania Press, publisher of trade and scholarly books, seeks a Journals Manager to bear overall responsibility for the operation of the Journals Division of the Press, supervising Division staff and managing all stages of work involved in the acquisition, manuscript editing, production, design, manufacture, and circulation, in print and online, of a growing list of journals owned by and under contract to the Press. This entails the preparation and monitoring of schedules and budgets, supervising the work of freelances and vendors, maintaining working relations with editorial offices, as well as editing and designing promotional materials. Reports to the Press director.

Qualifications: B.A. or B.S degree plus 5-7 years related experience or equivalent combination of education & experience; experience in journals publishing, including at production management; thorough familiarity with professional standards in peer review, editing, typesetting, printing, electronic presentation, customer service, and distribution; advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) applications.
