Job Summary *This position is only available to current UGA employees* This is responsible police work at the corporal level at the university. Work involves professional response to the need for enforcing laws and university regulations. Work also involves preventing, investigating, and detecting crimes, and the apprehension of criminals. Work is performed in accordance with department rules and regulations and may be performed in uniform or plain clothes. Employee allocated to this class of work must be assigned to a specialized function which requires knowledge and abilities usually acquired through experience on the force. Guidance and direction are provided to subordinate law enforcement personnel. Work requires dedication to public service often made difficult by emotional or physical stress of events. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports, inspections, and observation of results obtained. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a standard high school supplemented by the completion of two years of college; and experience in police work or related work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Will fully comply with the requirements for peace officer as set forth in the Georgia Peace Officers' Standards and Training Act, as defined by the Georgia Peace Officer's Standards and Training Council.
